PLEASE READ FOR WARRANTY PURPOSES

IMPORTANT NOTE

Replacement unit:

If you are replacing your DPF – CAT – DOC, it is easy to assume that one of either is at fault and have it replaced but in general, just replacing or cleaning the DPF will lead to the same issues again if it is not diagnosed correctly.  It is extremely likely that a fault occurred elsewhere on the vehicle or possibly the driving style has caused the unit to either clog or fail.  A full fault diagnostic must be carried out by a trained technician with appropriate diagnostic equipment to establish exactly why it has clogged or failed.

PLEASE REMEMBER

DPF problems are a symptom of underlying problems upstream and almost always are not the actual cause.

Serviced unit:

Please keep in mind the DPF unit is a simple but microscopic wall flow ceramic filter. Filters don’t collect excess debris for no reason. All units leave our workshop in a fully serviceable state, checked against OEM specifications and VERT maximum recommended exhaust back pressure. Back pressure is measured in kPa and Flow is also measured in LPM which is certified at the time of final clean, ensuring 100% operating efficiency. If your unit clogs again in a short time, you will have a persisting undiagnosed problem up stream which is not the fault of the filter.

Warranty will be void if the following is not adhered to.

Do Not install the DPF – CAT – DOC if the old unit is being replaced

  1. Due to broken or melting of substrate
  2. If the casing shows signs of overheating, turning blue (confirm correct operating Temperature)
  3. If the cause of the problem has not been properly diagnosed
  4. If underlying problems have not been identified and corrected, a forced regeneration must be conducted with all new or cleaned DPFs. This will allow the ECU to learn the new values and re-set the DPF data. Failure to do so will void warranty.
Your new or serviced DPF – CAT – DOC will also be damaged or fail unless ALL problems are fixed.

The following items must be checked prior to prolonged test running.

  1. No residual error codes stored in the ECU
  2. EGR and AIR intake systems are operating correctly and checked for blockages and leaks
  3. Pressure sensors are operating correctly
  4. Ignition timing and spark advance set correctly
  5. Timing belt is not stretched or deteriorating
  6. o2 sensors operating correctly
  7. No exhaust leaks upstream
  8. No fuel additives have been put in the fuel tank.
  9. Correct NEW low ash oil has being changed along with a new oil filter
  10. Exhaust brake operation
  11. Additional software upgrades are not needed
  12. Always use new gaskets / nuts and bolts – do not use silicon sealant or exhaust paste upstream
  13. It is the technicians responsibility to check all nuts & bolts are tight on DPF units before fitting.
  1. Excess fuel / over fuelling  e.g. leaking fuel pump – injectors – faulty glow plugs – air induction hose leaks – excessive white smoke is a symptom of over fuelling
  2. Wrong or incorrectly fitted air cleaner or safety
  3. Excess oil e.g. worn engine or turbo, wrong oil added, leaking or worn fuel pump
  4. Foreign fuel additives in tank
  5. Intermittent engine operation – short running
  6. Lack of computerised Regen or Regen has been bypassed,
  7. Regeneration not reaching adequate burn Temprature
  8. Residue of fuel borne additives (Ad BLUE)
  9. Lack of or excess of fuel  borne catalyst or contamination
  10. Contaminated fuel
  11. Wrong fuel added to fuel tank.
  12. Blocked pressure pipes and sensors.
  13. Failed substrate
  14. Electrical or software faults.
  15. EGR leaks – excess crank case vapour.
  16. Inadequate service history.
  17. Faulty temp sensors.
  18. Faulty exhaust brake operation.
  19. Faulty Fuel dosing pump.
  20. Faulty fuel flow control valve.
  21. Inspect Turbo blades remove build-up
  22. DOC has moved back into the temp sensor or DPF substrate
  23. Vehicle needs software updates
  24. Bio Fuel has been used
  25. Cracked or leaking exhaust up stream of DOC / DPF

Please be aware servicing the DOC or CAT along with the DPF will give extended life to the DPF. Not doing so is likely to cause persisting problems. And WILL void your warranty.

For Regen Service and New Products

You MUST instigate an in-car regeneration burn after completion of refit before driving the vehicle.

Always use a suitable lubricant on all threaded fittings to prevent cold welding.
